Meeting with Prof. Salleh

The president who has a meeting with KITLV (Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies, Leiden, also visited Prof . Salleh Yaapar. Prof. Salleh is the European Chair of Malay Studies and currently is at the International Institute of Asian Studies, Leiden.

On this visit Prof. Salleh managed to show a building where a Malay poetry was painted on the wall. The owner of the house, Karin, was a quarter-Malay.

On a previous visit in April 2005, Prof. Salleh organised a guided tour of the library at the University of Leiden where a large collection of Malay manuscripts were kept. KITLV and the University of Leiden collectively has the largest collection of Malay manuscripts in the world. Many of the manuscripts have not been studied yet.
